Community Service Projects

August 21, 2021 - Community Service Project

Service Project - What are we doing?:

There is an elderly couple in the City of Vallejo that have weeds that have grown very high and they aren't physically able to remove, nor can they afford to remove. With the recent fires in their neighborhood, damaging homes and putting many elderly residents at risk, we'd like to help this couple by removing the weeds.

Bowman Professional Services is seeking 10-15 youth and young adults to come out and pull and bag weeds. The time for this project is 3 hours and will be an ongoing project. The next dates will include upkeep of the area. Those dates will be determined and sent out following the first date so youth have the opportunity to sign up!

Community Service Letters, reflecting volunteer hours, will be provided following the project and will be emailed to the email address that has been provided in the registration form.

Details for the "day of":

  • The meeting place is in Vallejo, CA and will be sent out closer to the service date.

  • Please arrive no later than 8:50 AM so that directions can be reviewed and we can get started working right away.

  • This will be a hands-on activity, as youth will be digging and pulling weeds, and placing them in large bags/cans.

  • Please wear long pants, sneakers, and cool and comfortable clothing so you are prepared to work. You may also want to wear a hat that day to cover your face from the sun. I also recommend dressing in layers in case the day starts out cold, and gets warmer throughout.

  • Gloves, and any tools we'll need to pull and dig with, as well as bags and cans to place the weeds in will be provided/made available.

  • Light snacks, water, and lunch will be provided.

  • Please make sure transportation is able to pick up from the meeting site no later than 12:15 PM.

If you have any questions, or need any additional information, please feel free to email Mrs. Stacey Banks Bowman @ (2 b's in the middle!).
